Orthopedic Technician: – Prepare instruments and equipment needed in the operation, preparation of equipment prior to commencement of lists to include assembling and function testing. – ensure up-to-date knowledge of specific kits used for orthopedic surgery. – Provide highly-skilled assistance to the Surgeon and care for the patient during the operation. – Ensure preparation of additional equipment required by the surgical team – Comply with infection prevention control policies and procedures at all times. – Use a sterile technique for scrubbing, gowning, and gloving. – Receive sterile equipment via circulating nurse using aseptic technique. – Perform surgical draping and initial sponges, needle counts, and checks. – Assemble and secure suction tubes and cautery cord with towel clips. – Prepare sutures, needles, and cement mixture according to to use. – Establish and maintain effective communication with the surgeon and members of the multidisciplinary team where appropriate. – Recognize and respond accordingly to urgent and emergencies. – Develop own skills and competencies. Ensure that the clinical area assigned to is within personal skill set and that local guidelines are adhered to – Ensure competency and safe maintenance of all medical devices within the sphere of responsibility and guidelines. – Perform regular equipment inventory and order new supplies according to client needs and demands. – Collect feedback from clients and report to product specialist and supervisor on daily basis. – Ensure that daily sound reporting system is maintained, so that optimum communication of all information concerning surgeons, hospitals and account managers to the medical field product specialist. – Monitor competitor’s activity, competitors’ products and give feedback to product specialist and supervisor. – Regularly attend company meeting, technical data presentations and briefings. – Liaise with product specialist and supervisor to plan and organize events, prepare promotions, sales and special collections. – Meet on regular basis with the team including: product specialists, sales supervisor and manager. – Contribute to all research needed to ensure proper consumer understanding. – Maintain detailed records of all contacts, which involves database management.
